Update February 3rd

Hello Wonderful Families,
Thank you so much to parents that signed up to donate items for our Root Beer Float science experiment.  Please be sure to send those items in on or before this Thursday, February 6th.
The final day to take AR quizzes for this trimester is February 21st.  That seems like it’s still quite aways away, but that is only 12 school days.  Please make sure that kiddos are completing their nightly reading and are ready to quiz when they come to school! You can check your kiddos progress using the Renaissance link on the left hand side of this blog.
Our field trip to LegoLand is coming up on Friday, February 7th! Here is some important information: 
​***Please have your kiddo wear the ILCS T-shirt or a blue shirt to Legoland**
BUS
  • If your child DOES NOT have a parent/guardian attending they MUST ride the bus.
  • The  bus will leave for Legoland PROMPTLY at 7:30am from BSC. Please plan to drop your child off in their classroom at 7:15am.
  • Please send your child with a sack lunch (brown bag), water bottle, sunscreen, jacket, and a small backpack to carry all their things. Once we arrive we will not have access to the bus until it's time to return home. It is OPTIONAL to send money with your child for a souvenir or snack.
  • The bus will leave Legoland at 4:00pm to return to school. Please be sure you are CHECKING PARENT SQUARE FREQUENTLY for updates concerning our return time so that you can meet us PROMPTLY when we arrive back at the school. We plan to arrive back to school at approximately 7:00pm.

CARS
  • If your child has a parent/guardian attending the field trip they MUST drive with them.
  • Arrive at the LEGOLAND front entrance NO LATER than 9:45am
  • We will enter the park together at 10:00am (I will give you your ticket at the gate).
  • We have four second grade classes and LEGOLAND can only fit in three workshops on the day of our trip.  This means that our class will split into three separate groups. Eight of our classmates will attend Mrs. Estopinal’s workshop, eight will attend Mrs. Payne’s workshop, and eight will attend Mrs. Rigsby’s workshop. I will be sending more information about your kiddos workshop time on ParentSquare on Monday, February 3rd.
  • AFTER the workshop, parents will be allowed to sign their child out for the rest of the day.
If anyone is interested in making a classroom donation, we are in need of, glue sticks, and pre-sharpened ticonderoga pencils.  Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity!

Homework:.  Some homework changes this week- Find the Evidence will go home on Monday and is due THURSDAY because of our Field Trip.  Please remember to fill in your Reading Log and complete your math sheet nightly. There will be NO HOMEWORK Thursday night.

Hello Wonderful Families, A BIG thank you to those that have sent in money for our "Change for Change" campaign for Ghana. The campaign will run throughout the year so keep sending in change! Our next round of change will be collected this Wednesday, October 30th, so if you’ve been saving up at home, please send it in! ​ ​We will begin reciting our poems in class starting this Monday, October 28th.  The end of the first trimester is rapidly approaching!  We will be finishing up our end of trimester assessments this week, so there will be NO HOMEWORK!! Hello Wonderful Families, Thank you so much to everyone that made it out for our Magic Tree House Book Club on Friday, I truly appreciate you taking time out of your day to let our kiddos share their work with you! Our Turkey in Disguise Project is due this Tuesday, November 19th! November Poems will also be recited this week, so make sure students are ready starting Tuesday, November 19th. Please remember that there is NO SCHOOL for students this Monday, November 18th for Parent Teacher Conferences.  I look forward to seeing you and sharing your child’s progress so far this year! Our Thanksgiving Feast will take place on Thursday, November 21st at 12:30 pm.  A parent square message was sent out last week asking for donations and volunteers, so if you are looking to help out, check that post for details.  We will be having a Movie Day this Friday in class.  We will be watching the PG rated movie Freebirds. Update October 1st

Hello Wonderful Families, I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!  Just a few updates for the week: If you haven't already, please make sure to sign and send in your kiddos permission slip for our field trip on the 19th. I will be notifying chaperones that have been chosen at the end of this week. Thank you all so so much for all of your book orders.  The book order should be delivered this week!  I was able to purchase over 20 new books for our classroom library!  BSC AR INCENTIVE PROGRAM BSC just launched our first ever school-wide incentive program for Accelerated Reader. Each month the second grade class with the most points will be awarded a trophy to be displayed in their class for the entire month.  In addition, the top reader (student with the most points at the end of the month) will be recognized at our monthly ROAR Rally, have his or her picture posted on our Rockin' Reader Bulletin Board, and will be mentioned in our monthly ...
