Update February 11th
Hello Wonderful Families,
Reminder: there is NO SCHOOL this Monday, February 11th or next Monday, February 18th in Observance of President’s Day.
Valentine’s Day is this Thursday, February 14th. Handing out valentine’s Day cards is not mandatory, but we ask that if your kiddo chooses to pass out cards that they include everyone in the class. We have 24 students (13 boys, 11 girls). If you want to personalize cards, their names are as follows: Ethan, Ames, Reagan, Jack F, Addison, Brianna, London, Callen, Hailey, Dixie, Joelle, Jet, Jack O., Caleb, Trevor, Liam, Pedro, Ashlyn, Allie, Saylah, Zachary, Wyatt, Andrew, Morgan
February Poems went home last Monday. Students will need to be ready to recite their poems the week of February 25th.
The ILCS Spelling Bee is coming. We will be holding our in class spelling bee, the week of February 19th to see who our representative will be!
The last day to take AR quizzes for this trimester will be February 28th. Remember you can always check in on your child’s AR progress by clicking on the Renaissance link on the left side of this page.

This week in Language Arts:
Reading: Using visuals, Poem word choice, making connections, comparing text structure
Grammar: Superlative and comparative
Spelling: ou, ow, oi, oy- bounce, destroy, growl, loyal, voice, pout, powder, enjoy, point, count
Vocabulary:
- Hasty: to do something quickly
- Plentiful: large in number or amount
- Evening: the end of the day
- Shiver: to shake (usually because you are cold or scared)
- Gaze: to stare at
Writing: Opinion Writing

This week in Leadership and Science:
Leadership: Kindness journals
Science: Building blocks of matter
Homework: “Find the Evidence” will go home on Tuesday and must be returned by Friday. Math worksheets and reading logs need to be completed nightly.
