Weekly Update September 10th


Hello Families, I hope everyone has had a nice relaxing weekend!  Just a few updates for the week:

A new book order was sent home on Friday.  The orders have already been coming in.  I am so excited to see so many kiddos excited about new books!  I will be placing one order today and will place another one at the end of the month.

This week in Math:
Topic 3: Add within 100 using strategies 
·       practice using adding strategies
·       solving 1 step and 2 step problems
·       math practices and problem solving
·       Topic 3 assessments


This week in Language Arts:
Reading: glossary, story structure, setting, author's purpose, using illustrations
Grammar: Review of Adjectives and Adverbs
Spelling: (Endings -s, -ed, -ing) asked, bites, bugging, dropped, lifted, hikes, opening, placed, trading, uses
Vocabulary:
          convince: to make a person agree or believe by using evidence
          swiftly: moving with lots of speed
          rely: to depend on someone or something
          rare: very uncommon
          precise: very exact
Writing: Personal Narrative - dialogue, adding details, word choice

This week in Leadership and Science:
Leadership: ROAR Characteristics
Science: Mapping Our World

Homework: The "Find the Evidence" sheet will come home Monday and is due Friday.  Please make sure that the math worksheet and Reading Log are completed daily.  There will be NO MATH HOMEWORK this week on Thursday and Friday because we will be testing on Chapter 3.
