Update September 24th

Hello Wonderful Families, I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!  Just a few updates for the week:


This Monday, a permission slip for our first field trip will be coming home.  We will being going to see a "School House Rock" play at the Lewis Family Playhouse in Rancho Cucamonga on October 19th.  We are asking that all permission slips be returned by this coming Friday, September 28th.  If you are interested in being a chaperone please make sure to fill in the chaperone information at the bottom of the permission slip.  Each class will only be able to take 6 chaperones so if there are more than 6 people interested, it will be a random drawing to keep things fair. The suggested donation for this field trip is $15 through our dollar-a-day program.  You can access the dollar-a-day website from the links on the left side of this page.

 If your student is interested in checking out books from the library at CSC, the library will be open on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons from 1:45- 2:30pm.  Stop in during that time and our wonderful librarian will set up an account for your student.

 A volunteer sign up will be going out this Monday at 3pm for the month of October.  A huge thank you to the parents who have helped this month.  You have all helped me more than you know!

This week in Math:

This week in Language Arts:

Reading: Story Structure, Character webs, sequence of events
Grammar: Plural Nouns
Spelling: (sh, ch, th, wh) brush, chase, ditch, mouth, patch, pinch, shell, thick, whale, whisk
Vocabulary:

  • redundant- more than what is needed
  • gesture- a movement of the body that shows an idea or feeling
  • acknowledge- to recognize
  • clutch- to tightly hold something
  • persevere- to keep working on something even though it is difficult
        
Writing: Personal Narrative - Paragraphs, writing an ending, editing

This week in Leadership and Science:

Leadership: ROAR Characteristics

Science: Landforms


Homework: The "Find the Evidence" sheet will come home Monday and is due Friday.  Please make sure that the math worksheet and Reading Log are completed daily.  There will be NO MATH HOMEWORK this week on Friday because we will be testing on Chapter 4.

Hello Wonderful Families, A BIG thank you to those that have sent in money for our "Change for Change" campaign for Ghana. The campaign will run throughout the year so keep sending in change! Our next round of change will be collected this Wednesday, October 30th, so if you’ve been saving up at home, please send it in! ​ ​We will begin reciting our poems in class starting this Monday, October 28th.  The end of the first trimester is rapidly approaching!  We will be finishing up our end of trimester assessments this week, so there will be NO HOMEWORK!! Hello Wonderful Families, Thank you so much to everyone that made it out for our Magic Tree House Book Club on Friday, I truly appreciate you taking time out of your day to let our kiddos share their work with you! Our Turkey in Disguise Project is due this Tuesday, November 19th! November Poems will also be recited this week, so make sure students are ready starting Tuesday, November 19th. Please remember that there is NO SCHOOL for students this Monday, November 18th for Parent Teacher Conferences.  I look forward to seeing you and sharing your child’s progress so far this year! Our Thanksgiving Feast will take place on Thursday, November 21st at 12:30 pm.  A parent square message was sent out last week asking for donations and volunteers, so if you are looking to help out, check that post for details.  We will be having a Movie Day this Friday in class.  We will be watching the PG rated movie Freebirds. Update October 1st

Hello Wonderful Families, I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!  Just a few updates for the week: If you haven't already, please make sure to sign and send in your kiddos permission slip for our field trip on the 19th. I will be notifying chaperones that have been chosen at the end of this week. Thank you all so so much for all of your book orders.  The book order should be delivered this week!  I was able to purchase over 20 new books for our classroom library!  BSC AR INCENTIVE PROGRAM BSC just launched our first ever school-wide incentive program for Accelerated Reader. Each month the second grade class with the most points will be awarded a trophy to be displayed in their class for the entire month.  In addition, the top reader (student with the most points at the end of the month) will be recognized at our monthly ROAR Rally, have his or her picture posted on our Rockin' Reader Bulletin Board, and will be mentioned in our monthly ...
