Hello Wonderful Families,

A BIG thank you to those that have sent in money for our "Change for Change" campaign for Ghana. The campaign will run throughout the year so keep sending in change!

​Please continue to practice your October Poems!  Students need to memorize one of the four poems that came home.  They will recite the poem from memory the week of October 28th. The rubric is on the back of the poems so you can see how they will be scored.

Next week is Spirit Week.  Each day will have a fun dress up theme.  If kiddos are not participating in the spirit day theme, they must still dress within the Dress for Success guidelines.  The theme are as follows:
  • Monday: Dress as your favorite movie character
  • Tuesday: Dress as what you want to be when you grow up
  • Wednesday: Dress as mismatched and crazy as you can
  • Thursday: Dress as past, present, and future
  • Friday: Pajama Day

October Book order forms went home today.  If you are wanting to order books, I will be placing the order Friday, October 25th.

 You can always check your child's progress toward their AR goal by going to the Accelerated Reader Home Connect website and entering your child's username and password (found in their homework folder). Student’s must meet their AR goal for this trimester by Friday, November 1st!!!!

I know a lot of the math strategies that we are currently learning are different than the traditional method of addition that you may remember and can be confusing. So if your kiddo is ever having a hard time, I recommend downloading the “Bounce Pages” app on your phone. You can scan the Homework page and it will play a short video walking them through the steps.

Homework:Reading and behavior logs need to be filled out and initialed nightly.  Math Homework must also be completed nightly. Find the Evidence will go home on Monday and will be due by Friday.

Our next round of change will be collected this Wednesday, October 30th, so if you’ve been saving up at home, please send it in! ​ ​We will begin reciting our poems in class starting this Monday, October 28th.  The end of the first trimester is rapidly approaching!  We will be finishing up our end of trimester assessments this week, so there will be NO HOMEWORK!! Hello Wonderful Families, Thank you so much to everyone that made it out for our Magic Tree House Book Club on Friday, I truly appreciate you taking time out of your day to let our kiddos share their work with you! Our Turkey in Disguise Project is due this Tuesday, November 19th! November Poems will also be recited this week, so make sure students are ready starting Tuesday, November 19th. Please remember that there is NO SCHOOL for students this Monday, November 18th for Parent Teacher Conferences.  I look forward to seeing you and sharing your child’s progress so far this year! Our Thanksgiving Feast will take place on Thursday, November 21st at 12:30 pm.  A parent square message was sent out last week asking for donations and volunteers, so if you are looking to help out, check that post for details.  We will be having a Movie Day this Friday in class.  We will be watching the PG rated movie Freebirds. Update October 1st

Hello Wonderful Families, I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!  Just a few updates for the week: If you haven't already, please make sure to sign and send in your kiddos permission slip for our field trip on the 19th. I will be notifying chaperones that have been chosen at the end of this week. Thank you all so so much for all of your book orders.  The book order should be delivered this week!  I was able to purchase over 20 new books for our classroom library!  BSC AR INCENTIVE PROGRAM BSC just launched our first ever school-wide incentive program for Accelerated Reader. Each month the second grade class with the most points will be awarded a trophy to be displayed in their class for the entire month.  In addition, the top reader (student with the most points at the end of the month) will be recognized at our monthly ROAR Rally, have his or her picture posted on our Rockin' Reader Bulletin Board, and will be mentioned in our monthly ...
